Delight & Desire: A Summer Yoga Retreat
With Mairin McCracken
June 9 - 11, 2023
COVID POLICY: For your safety and ours, we require proof of vaccination AND negative test result from all visitors to Ratna Ling Retreat Center. We wish to provide peace of mind for all of our residents and guests.
When you think of the words “delight,” and “desire,” you may think of pleasure, yearning, or joy- but the origin of these words offer us an invitation to go further. The word “desire,” evolved from “de sidere ” or “from the stars.” There is a dreamy quality to the word; picture yourself looking up at the night sky and allowing your imagination to collaborate with the wisdom of the stars. Similarly, when we choose to “delight,” which according to its origin is to be ‘charmed’ by the light, or the goodness, in all things, we can approach the longest days of the year in a relaxed state of receiving. This retreat will call you back into nature, back into the present moment, and back into your body. Through rigorous movement, restorative yoga, and plenty of time to soak in the sun and the star-filled sky, you will define for yourself what it means to both delight in the present and dream up what’s next for you in this one precious life.

About Mairin:
Mairin was drawn to yoga back in 2011 because it seemed to align with her dance background and helped her overcome an injury. She stayed because it soothed her nervous system, helped her through life’s challenges, and increased her capacity for loving herself (and others). Mairin began teaching yoga in late 2016 and has been teaching Vinyasa and Sculpt Yoga (Vinyasa-style classes that infuse strength training and plyometrics) ever since.
Mairin grounds her classes in philosophy, always giving her students something to ruminate on as they move and breathe together. Her favorite sources of inspiration are Pema Chodron, Father Gregory Boyle, David Whyte, myths from the Bhagavad Gita and other ancient texts, and her Kindergarten students (oh yeah, she lives a double life as a classroom teacher!).
